Mark Lewis
The conventional 35mm film transferred to DVD is the medium of the Canadian artist Mark Lewis. Lewis shoots with professional actors and film crews, quotes classical film sets and familiar pan shots.
Most of the time, his work corresponds to an average length of four minutes – exactly the length of a film roll. Lewis deliberately produces such »bits of cinema«, as he calls them, to analyze the pictorial vocabulary of the cinema. His almost exceptionally silent works focus on the moving picture and its inherent structure.
