Video Archive

The video archive of the Deutscher Künstlerbund resulted from the exhibition »40jahrevideokunst.de- was fehlt?« which took place in summer 2006. The majority of the artists who participated in the exhibition left their works to the archive of the Künstlerbund for further inspection.

In order to make these works permanently available, an »inspection space« has been set up in the project space of the Deutscher Künstlerbund, which makes the works accessible to interested visitors that is by means of special software based on the system »video on demand«. With the installation of such an »inspection space«, the Deutscher Künstlerbund manifests itself as an innovative precursor in the matter of video art, since the system which was developed only recently, allows fast and direct access to all the works stored on one hard disk.

In the library of the Deutscher Künstlerbund works can now individually be studied and selectively be examined  while catching sight of familiar traits and discovering new ones. The video archive will remain an open archive that can be supplemented at any time.
