Exhibition in the Project Space
Eva-Maria Wilde
Installation in the display windows of the Project Space

From August 8 until September 26, 2008 the »Deutscher Künstlerbund« presents an exhibition of the Berlin based artist Eva-Maria Wilde. As a continuation of the exhibition format »Sommerpause« that was initiated last year, Eva-Maria Wilde shows an installation in the display windows of the Project Space.

The works of Eva-Maria Wilde are inspired by various travels. She mainly visits the megalopolises of the world. Usually she sets out alone for Europe, Asia or South America. In a photographic »diary« she documents moments of departure, blank spaces, no man's land and in-between situations that are reflected in the architecture. In doing so, she particularly concentrates on the complexity and change of the megacities. She seeks concise phenomena of urban transformation processes. Facades of multi-storey buildings, shopping and business centres, housing estates, vacant, abandoned houses and ruins testify to the psychology of global cities.

For Eva-Maria Wilde the photo books composed in this procedure serve as a memory of her records of the decomposition of urban structure. Linear structures of facades, arrangement and screening of surfaces, reflections and superpositions and their abstraction in lines and vectors are transcribed in different techniques: painting, collages, sculptures and installations.

In the display windows of the Project Space of the »Deutscher Künstlerbund« Eva-Maria Wilde presents an installation which, too, is borrowed from urban space. With large sized, minimalistic drawings she pulls the outside space into the interior and interconnects different structures of a changing townscape with the clearly segmented window frontage of a prefabricated high-rise building.
