Exhibition in the Project Space
Esther Stocker »Geometrisch betrachtet, sind alle Formen im Raum gleichwertig«
Succeeding Rupprecht Matthies, Thomas Locher and Corinne Wasmuth, the Vienna based artist, Esther Stocker was invited to reconfigure the Project Space of the Deutscher Künstlerbund with an installation especially developed for the location.
In her work, Esther Stocker refers to the aesthetics of the Constructivists and Op-art of the 1960s. She deals with reception and irritation of the viewing experience in distinctively defined spaces. Her paintings display allegedly consistent patterns and grids that appear to exceed the image frame. Thereby she mainly confines herself to the usage of black and white. For the most part, geometric structures reveal themselves as ambiguous and refuse a restricted commitment to established forms.
